About the Role: Elevate Nexus is recruiting on behalf of our client for a highly skilled Senior Full-Stack Developer with advanced AI expertise to join their IT department on a full-time freelance/contract basis. This is a strategic and influential role leading the charge in building intelligent tools that fuel the growth. This is a high-impact freelance role where you’ll architect and develop AI-powered systems that streamline workflows, boost automation, and enhance the tech stack. Key Responsibilities:

• AI Tool Development: Design, build, and maintain tools that leverage AI to enhance functionality, automation, and user experience across our e-commerce stack.
• AI Integration: Implement smart automations, intelligent dashboards, and internal tools using LLMs and generative AI (e.g., OpenAI, LangChain, Hugging Face, Pinecone).
• Full-Stack Development: Build and scale end-to-end web applications using modern technologies (e.g., React, Node.js, Python, Docker, MongoDB, AWS).
• Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with marketing, operations, and leadership teams to translate ideas into scalable, AI-driven digital products.
• Team Mentorship: Guide and support a small team of junior developers (“Vibe Coders”) who utilize AI tools such as GitHub Copilot and ChatGPT for assisted coding.
• Innovation & AI Trends: Stay on the cutting edge of AI research and tooling, continuously integrating advancements into our development practices.
• Code Quality: Write clean, maintainable, and well-documented code following best practices in software engineering and MLOps.

What We’re Looking For:

• Extensive Full-Stack Experience: 5+ years of hands-on experience in full-stack development (frontend + backend), with a strong foundation built prior to the rise of AI tooling.
• Modern Tech Stack Proficiency: Deep knowledge of JavaScript/TypeScript, React, Next.js, Node.js, and Python. Comfortable building scalable, production-grade web applications.
• AI Application Development: At least 2 years of practical experience using AI to build tools such as automations, virtual assistants, smart dashboards, or internal dev utilities.
• AI-Enhanced Workflows: Fluent in using AI tools to accelerate software development (e.g., GitHub Copilot, ChatGPT, Cursor, or similar).
• LLM & GenAI Tools: Experience integrating AI/LLM services like OpenAI, LangChain, Hugging Face, or GPT APIs. Familiarity with vector databases (e.g., Pinecone) is a strong plus.
• Cloud Infrastructure: Experience deploying apps to cloud platforms like AWS, Firebase, or Vercel is highly desirable.
• E-commerce Insight: Exposure to Shopify, dropshipping models, or D2C e-commerce platforms is a bonus.
• Mentorship & Leadership: Experience mentoring junior developers or leading agile tech teams is an advantage.
• AI-First Mindset: A genuine passion for AI innovation, with a proactive attitude toward staying current with emerging technologies, frameworks, and best practices.

Mandatory Requirements:

• This job is based in The Netherlands,andahybrid — 1 day in the office.
• Candidate must be based in the Netherlands and have valid work rights; no visa sponsorship available.
• Freelance/Independent Contractor only, full-time (40+ hours per week)
• Competitive hourly rate — flexible and negotiable based on experience.
• Time Tracking system is used for hours worked.
