Senior AI Engineer (Remote)

Position Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior AI Engineer to join our fast-growing startup and lead the development of cutting-edge AI and machine learning solutions. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in AI/ML, Gen AI and LLMs integrations, data science, and software engineering, with a passion for innovation and problem-solving. Requirements

Key Responsibilities

Developing and Implementing AI/ML Models:

• AI/ML Model Development: Design, build, and deploy advanced Generative AI applications, LLMs cloud integrations and machine learning models to solve critical business challenges and drive innovation
• Collaboration: Work closely with data scientists, software engineers, and product managers to identify opportunities where AI/ML can add significant value
• Model Optimization: Select the most suitable model architectures, fine-tune hyperparameters, and optimize models for high performance and scalability

Data Preprocessing and Feature Engineering:

• Data Wrangling: Clean, preprocess, and manage large datasets to ensure they are ready for effective modeling
• Exploratory Data Analysis (EDA): Conduct EDA to understand data characteristics, uncover trends, and identify relevant features
• Feature Engineering: Develop and refine features that enhance model accuracy and capture essential patterns within the data

Productionizing and Maintaining AI Systems:

• Pipeline Development: Create and maintain robust pipelines for automating model training, evaluation, and deployment to production environments
• Integration: Seamlessly integrate AI/ML models into the startup’s products and services, ensuring they are scalable and reliable
• Model Monitoring: Continuously monitor deployed models for performance drift, and proactively retrain or update them as necessary
• System Reliability: Ensure the AI systems remain reliable, efficient, and free of bugs as the company rapidly scales

Collaborating Cross-Functionally and Communicating Results:

• Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with diverse teams, including product, engineering, design, and leadership, to align AI initiatives with business goals
• Communication: Effectively communicate complex AI/ML concepts and findings to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
• Mentorship: Mentor junior team members and share knowledge to elevate the company’s overall AI capabilities

Keeping Up with the Latest AI Advances:

• Continuous Learning: Stay informed about the latest advancements in AI/ML by engaging with research papers, attending conferences, and participating in open-source projects
• Innovation: Proactively introduce new ideas and cutting-edge techniques to help the company stay ahead in the industry
• Skill Development: Constantly expand your expertise in areas like deep learning, natural language processing (NLP), computer vision, AI ethics, and safety
• Thought Leadership: Contribute to establishing the company as an industry thought leader in AI

Technical Skills Required

• Gen AI expertise: Proven experience in integrations with LLMs. Knowledge of Agentic workflows & function-calling applications
• ML Expertise: Proven experience in designing, building, and deploying AI/ML models using frameworks such as TensorFlow, PyTorch, or Scikit-learn
• Programming Languages: Strong proficiency in Python and familiarity with other relevant languages like Javascript, or C++
• Data Management: Strong capabilities in handling large datasets, data preprocessing, and feature engineering
• Cloud Platforms: Experience with AWS cloud platform is a must (Azure or GCP is a plus) particularly in deploying and managing AI/ML models
• CI/CD Pipelines: Knowledge of CI/CD practices and tools for automating the deployment of AI models
• Big Data Technologies: Familiarity with big data technologies such as Hadoop, Spark, or Kafka is a plus

Qualifications And Experience

• Professional Experience: Minimum of 5 years in AI/ML engineering, with a focus on deploying AI models in production environments
• Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Artificial Intelligence, or a related field
• Language: Proficiency in English, both written and conversational
• Preferred Qualifications: Experience in a startup environment, with a track record of successful AI/ML model deployments
