Principal Machine Learning Engineers (Remote, Part-time)

This is a part-time remote job for Machine Learning ( or Artificial Intelligence ) Engineers.

AAFIE Artificial Intelligence Labs is at the forefront of research and development, creating cutting-edge digital transformation solutions for the manufacturing and healthcare sectors. Our team is composed of AI professors from UC Berkeley and seasoned engineers from Silicon Valley, all dedicated to achieving transformative results for our clients.

We are currently seeking innovative, collaborative, and inquisitive individuals who are passionate about applying Machine Learning and AI to solve real-world challenges in the manufacturing industry. Primary Responsibilities:

  • Lead research and development projects in Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence;
  • Collaborate with domain experts in manufacturing to identify critical challenges and opportunities for AI-driven improvements, and prioritize projects accordingly;
  • Develop innovative Machine Learning and/or Deep Learning and/or Reinforcement Learning algorithms for leveraging multiple sources of data to optimize manufacturing processes, predict remaining useful life of a machine, and develop early signals for detecting product quality changes;
  • Design and implement AI algorithms for real-time monitoring and control of manufacturing equipment to improve operational efficiency, reduce waste, and minimize downtime;
  • Investigate and apply AI-based approaches for energy management and optimization in manufacturing facilities, including predicting energy consumption patterns and recommending energy-saving actions;
  • Evaluate and monitor Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence models to continuously improve the performance of the models;
  • Collaborate with other team members to code, train, test, deploy, and iterate on Artificial Intelligence based systems.

Required Qualifications:

  • A Master’s degree degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Statistics, or a related field with a focus on Machine Learning, Artificial Intelligence, or a similar area.
  • 5+ years of research or development experience in Machine Learning and/or Artificial Intelligence;
  • Experience training and evaluating machine learning and deep learning models (e.g. time-series modeling, tree-based models, ensemble learning, neural networks, reinforcement learning, etc.) and a good understanding of statistical techniques and concepts;
  • Strong programming skills in Python or other relevant programming languages;
  • Proficiency in various machine learning frameworks, libraries, and tools, such as TensorFlow, PyTorch, Keras, or scikit-learn;
  • Experience working with large-scale data sets and distributed computing tools (e.g., Hadoop, Spark, or similar technologies);
  • MLOps experience is a plus.

Pay: $60.00 - $90.00 per hour
