Role Description

We are seeking a highly skilled and innovative Lead AI/ML Engineer to join our healthcare team. The successful candidate will drive the development and application of advanced AI and machine learning solutions, including generative AI, to transform healthcare delivery.

• Design, develop, and deploy innovative AI and machine learning solutions to solve complex healthcare problems using our internal AI platform (UAIS)
• Leverage large language models (LLMs), prompt engineering, Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) to enhance AI applications
• Develop and evaluate robust question-answering pipelines for complex queries about medical or operational data
• Implement (multi)agentic workflows where LLMs autonomously decompose complex questions and synthesize accurate answers
• Customize pre-trained language models to align with healthcare terminology and compliance requirements
• Oversee the creation of training materials and educational resources for AI/ML technologies
• Conduct cutting-edge research in AI/ML to identify opportunities for improving healthcare outcomes
• Partner with cross-functional teams to integrate AI solutions into existing workflows and systems
• Advocate for and implement principles of responsible AI use, ensuring adherence to regulations and ethical standards
• Establish KPIs for AI models and oversee their monitoring, evaluation, and continuous improvement

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Data Science, Machine Learning, AI, or Computer Science
• 7+ years of experience in machine learning and AI, with a strong track record in developing and deploying advanced machine learning models
• 7+ years of experience in Python, with hands-on experience in traditional machine learning, deep learning, and generative AI frameworks
• 5+ years of hands-on experience with statistical methods and data visualization tools
• 5+ years of hands-on experience with cloud-based AI/ML platforms such as Azure ML, AWS SageMaker, or Google AI
• 2+ years of experience in working with large language models (LLMs) and generative AI techniques

Requirements

• Master’s or PhD degree in computer science, information technology, or a related field (preferred)
• Experience working in regulated industries, with knowledge of ethical AI practices and compliance requirements (preferred)
• Published patents or research in the fields of AI, machine learning, or generative AI (preferred)
• Software tool development experience and adherence to SW development best practices (preferred)
• Experience in the healthcare industry, with familiarity in clinical workflows and datasets (preferred)
• Proven track record of mentoring or educating teams on AI/ML technologies (preferred)
• Proven solid problem-solving skills and ability to communicate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders (preferred)
