AI Technical Strategist
About the Job The Red Hat Experience Engineering (XE) team is looking for a skilled AI Technical Strategist/Software Engineer with excellent programming skills, deep familiarity with LLMs including practical experience with retrieval augmented generation (RAG) and agentic AI approaches. Must have hands-on experience in robust model evaluation, MLOps best practices and deployment, and the ability to partner with internal stakeholders. To be successful in this role, you should have an established set of foundational technical skills and the ability to learn quickly as we modernize platforms and tooling to demonstrate an AI-first approach. You will be accountable for helping to shape our technical strategy for implementing AI and related solutions across the XE business. You’ll play a key role in early prototyping of solutions, performing data and model exploration, and connecting across multi-disciplinary teams to understand problem statements and feasibility. You likely have experience using analytics packages, translating and manipulating large datasets, and creating and maintaining software and tools that deliver meaningful impact and measurable value. This role is based in our Pune, India office and requires overlap with US East Coast working hours. What will you do: Partner with product management and stakeholders to define, instrument, and track value-centric metrics (e.g., user feedback scores) that connect AI system performance directly to business KPIs. Help establish and refine the operational playbook for AI evaluation, including contributing to failure mode taxonomies, qualitative evaluation processes, and go/no-go shipping criteria. Work closely with team members and stakeholders to turn business problems into analytical projects, translated requirements, and solutions. Translate large volumes of raw, unstructured data into actionable insights. Manage data pipelines for predictive analytics modeling, model lifecycle management, and deployment. Recommend ways to improve data reliability, efficiency, and quality Help create, maintain, and implement tools, libraries, and systems to increase the efficiency and scalability of the team. What will you bring: Ability to move from a business problem to a data-driven hypothesis and then design, implement and analyze experiments to improve system performance. Relentless curiosity to continuously evaluate systems for weakness and a methodical approach to identify, classify and prioritize failure modes based on user and business impact. Proven experience in translating large, unstructured datasets into actionable insights and creating high-quality data for system improvement and evaluation. Possess a strong bias for action and grit to navigate ambiguity, learning and adapting quickly to drive projects from prototype to production. Apply sound judgement to distinguish between promising avenues and technical dead ends ensuring that projects align with and drive measurable business outcomes. Work cross-functionally with a deep sense of empathy for user problems collaborating closely with product managers, engineers, and subject matter experts to translate their challenges into technical requirements and solutions.
