Position Summary

The Minority Serving - Cyberinfrastructure Consortium (MS-CC) is advancing a transformational partnership to promote advanced cyberinfrastructure capabilities at Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) and Tribal Colleges and Universities (TCUs). This is accomplished through a variety of community-focused programming centered on workforce development, collaboration, research computing, and building capacity among institutions. The MS-CC is currently funded through 9/30/2027 by a National Science Foundation grant award.

The MS-CC seeks a mission-driven AI Specialist to lead the development and delivery of AI-focused curriculum, consult on faculty-led research initiatives, and support publication and dissemination of data-driven science across Historically Black Colleges and Universities, (HBCUs) and Tribal Colleges and Universities (TCUs). This role combines technical expertise with instructional design, capacity building, and faculty collaboration.

Responsibilities

The role involves designing modular, reusable AI/ML instructional materials using tools such as Jupyter notebooks, GitHub and lab guides tailored to the needs of faculty and students at Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) and Tribal Colleges and Universities (TCUs). The candidate will develop AI-focused curriculum across domains including earth science, health equity, digital humanities, and social sciences, ensuring alignment with MS-CC’s broader research priorities.

Collaboration with faculty is central to this role, providing technical consulting on integrating AI and machine learning into both research workflows and classroom instruction. The candidate will support applied research projects through tool selection, data strategies, and cloud platform use, while identifying scalable solutions to shared institutional challenges.

The position also supports research dissemination by assisting with publication preparation, reviewing computational methodologies, and contributing to the development of grant proposals involving AI technologies.

Additional responsibilities include supporting and facilitating MS-CC-led workshops—both virtual and in-person—attending national conferences, and synthesizing lessons learned to enhance future programming. The candidate will contribute to program evaluation, help shape responsible AI policy and training guidelines, and participate in outreach activities with campus partners, reinforcing MS-CC’s community engagement efforts.
