Overview
AI Engineering Lead at Aios Medical — Remote, $80k-$120k/year inc equity. You will architect our AI-first future and own the AI strategy across our ClinicOS platform, transforming how millions access healthcare through intelligent automation.
You will work directly with the Head of Engineering, CEO, and the AI engineering team to build AI systems that deliver world-class healthcare at software scale. This role combines deep technical expertise with strategic vision, shipping production AI while defining the long-term roadmap, automating clinical workflows, and creating systems that scale to 100 million patients.
This is a full-time, fully remote role. You must thrive in intense, high-velocity environments. Key Responsibilities Core AI infrastructure: Build a model-agnostic AI platform that lets us switch between OpenAI, Anthropic, and open-source models seamlessly. Set up robust A/B testing to optimize performance and costs. Create intelligent routing that matches tasks to the right models. Implement comprehensive monitoring and ensure high reliability with proper fallbacks. AI-powered clinical care: Drive AI adoption across our clinical operating system. Automate manual processes intelligently and create AI assistants that enhance clinical teams. Measure impact rigorously so every feature demonstrably improves patient outcomes and operational efficiency. AI-powered growth: Use AI to transform the conversion funnel, including AI sales agents and tools like AI video generation, voice synthesis, and behavioral prediction models. Target human-level conversion rates while reducing manual touch-points. Data & experimentation: Be data-driven, study datasets to identify AI opportunities, build lightweight MVPs quickly, and run controlled tests with clear KPIs. Create feedback loops to scale winners and drive decisions by data. Must Have 6+ years of software engineering experience with a focus on AI and machine learning Strong experience building production applications powered by LLMs, including prompt and context engineering, RAG systems, and evaluation frameworks Proficiency in TypeScript and/or Python Experience designing and building modern, customer-facing APIs Experience building user-friendly interfaces with React or similar frameworks Experience leading engineering team members Nice to Have Experience with AI/ML infrastructure including vector databases, embeddings, and orchestration frameworks Experience building evaluation and monitoring systems for LLM applications in production Experience with large-scale data pipelines and distributed systems Experience with AWS at enterprise scale CS degree or equivalent experience Open source contributions Compensation & Benefits Compensation: $80k-$120k/year (cash + equity) Vacation: generous time-off with a yearly minimum Remote: fully distributed and remote-friendly Healthcare: comprehensive medical insurance Professional development: budget for books, courses, coaching ($600/yr) Personal wellness: budget for gym and wellness apps ($600/yr) Equipment: WFH gear provided as needed (e.g., MacBook) Shape our culture: early-stage role with significant influence How to Apply Apply on Ashby or the platform you are in Email lorena+ with: Resume LinkedIn GitHub
