Your Job:

In this position, you will be an active part of our AI Consulting Team. Together with our partners, we develop new and innovative applications of Machine Learning. You will connect to scientists and investigate possible applications of ML in fields like Chemistry, Numerics, Computational Biology, Astrophysics, Heliophysics etc. You will be involved in all phases of this process. You will

  • Identify new applications for Machine Learning in science, engineering, and technology
  • Develop, implement and refine ML techniques
  • Implement parallel ML training on the High Performance Computers
  • Engage in national and international ML/DL communities, most importantly in the Helmholtz AI platform: www.helmholtz.ai
  • Present research results at scientific meetings, conferences, and as scientific papers
  • Contribute to educational events, such as courses and hackathons

Your Profile:

  • Excellent Master and preferably subsequent PhD degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics, engineering or similar fields
  • Broad knowledge and practical experience in AI and applied Machine Learning is a must
  • Broad interest in diverse scientific topics
  • Self-motivated personality with a curiosity for working in a multidisciplinary team environment on scientifically challenging problems
  • Excellent communication skills in written and spoken English
  • Hands-on experience with ML/DL workflows and common software libraries
  • Practical experience with High Performance Computing (HPC) systems is an advantage
  • Your experience should be documented in research papers and Open Source code projects

The position is initially for a fixed term of 2 years, with possible long-term prospects. Salary and social security benefits will conform to the provisions of the Collective Agreement for the Public Service (TVöD-Bund), pay group 13, depending on your current qualifications and the precise nature of the tasks assigned to you.
